Participation in the nationwide online Hackathon: #SEMESTERHACK

04/11/2020

Our group participated with two challenges and several employees and students in the online hackathon of the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD and KI-Campus on 6/7 May 2020. More than 1000 participants spent 36 hours working on innovative solutions for digitisation in universities. In more than 70 challenges ideas were worked out and corresponding solutions were conceived and partly prototypically realized. We contributed with two topics.

The challenge "More realism for the VR classroom" examined how we can support the elimination of practical parts in teacher training. For this purpose we tried to extend the award-winning simulator from the University of Potsdam for further use cases.

In a second challenge on the topic: "Visualization of Collaboration in Collaborative Programming Processes" we asked ourselves how teachers can capture and visualize learning experiences and learning processes in group projects. Especially in software development, tools like Git are used in which it is difficult for teachers to identify individual achievements.
