Future Lab Aachen App
With the Future Lab Aachen (FLApp), you can get an insight into the Aachen world of science at 13 different stations. The discovery tour, which is about 1,3 km long, begins with the first station at Aachen Catehderal then it proceeds to the town hall and finally to the inner city campus. The last station is located at the main building of RWTH Aachen. At each of the 13 stations there are small articles containing pictures and videos in addition to audio commentary. The stations 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11 offer a special feature by using augmented reality, which brings objects to life. At these stations one has to start the 3D camera in the app and hold the smart phone over the marker. In order to find the stations more easily, there is a map which provides the locations of the 13 stations. When the GPS is activated, the current location will also be displayed on the map. When the Bluetooth is enabled, a notification is sent from the station to the smart phone as soon as a signal is received which helps to avoid missing any station. The Android version of the FLApp was developed by the Learning Technologies Research Group i9 at RWTH Aachen. The English and German versions of the app are available in the Google App store.
