Stefan Hecht has been University Professor and Chair of Macromolecular Chemistry at RWTH’s Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences and Scientific Director of the DWI - Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials since August 2019.

Dr. Niklas von der Aßen has been Junior Professor for Sustainable Life Cycles in Energy, Chemical and Process Engineering at RWTH's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering since August 2019.

He explores sustainable technology and product lifecycles under consideration of planetary boundaries. To this end he develops methods for the evaluation and design of closed material cycles in industrial processes with the help of technology integration and sector coupling.

Dr. rer. nat. Michael Leuchner has been University Professor of Physical Geography and Climatology at the RWTH Department of Geography since April 2019. Together with his team he works on fundamental and applied questions of climatology and atmospheric environmental research.

Dr. med. dent. Andreas Braun has been University Professor for Dental Conservation, Periodontology and Preventive Dentistry in the Faculty of Medicine at RWTH Aachen University since April 2019. He is also Director of the Clinic for Dental Conservation, Periodontology and Preventive Dentistry at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen. His specialties are endodontology, periodontology and laser dentistry.

Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Ing. Tobias Kuhnimhof has been University Professor for Urban and Transport Planning and head of the Chair and Institute of the same name at the RWTH Faculty of Civil Engineering since March 2019.

Dr. Ralf Schneider has been University Professor of English Literature at the Department of English, American and Romance Studies at RWTH Aachen University since March 2019.

Dr. Jan Marienhagen has headed the Synthetic Cell Factories teaching and research department at RWTH’s Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences since February 2019. At the same time, he has been a working group leader at the Biotechnology department of the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences, Forschungszentrum Jülich.

He is concerned with the design and construction of tailor-made microorganisms for the biotechnological production of chemicals and natural substances on the basis of renewable raw materials.

Dr. Hans-Jörg Sigwart has been University Professor of Political Theory and History of Ideas at the RWTH Faculty of Arts and Humanities since December 2018. Together with his team, he is engaged in research and teaching on the fundamental problems of political thought and its history from antiquity to the present.

Dr.-phil. Dr. paed. Hans-Joachim Jürgens has been University Professor for the German Didactics Teaching and Research Unit at the RWTH Faculty of Arts and Humanities since November 2018. His research focuses on literary learning and aesthetic education, encouraging reading with analog and digital media, detective, children's and young people's literature and its didactics.

Dipl.-Ing. Christa Reicher has been University Professor for Urban Design and head of the Institute for Urban Design at the RWTH Faculty of Architecture since October 2018. Her research focuses on qualification strategies, sustainable urban development, and the design of neighborhoods, cities, regions, and metropolises.

Dr. Frederic William Patureau has been University Professor for Synthetic Organic Chemistry at RWTH's Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences since September 2018.

Dr. Ulrich Krupp has been University Professor for Materials Engineering of Metals and head of the Department of Ferrous Metallurgy at RWTH Aachen University since September 2018. The department belongs to the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering.

PD Dr.-Ing. Laura De Laporte has been University Professor for Polymer Biomaterials at RWTH and the DWI - Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials since September 2018. Her research focuses on the development of minimally invasive therapies for the treatment of spinal cord injuries as well as injectable biomaterials for tissue and organ regeneration.
 

Dr. phil. Axel Siegemund has been Professor on the subject of Interdisciplinary Issues of Theology, Natural Sciences and Technology at RWTH Aachen since September 2018. Research in the framework of the Hemmerle Professorship at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is dedicated in particular to the function of technology in anthropological and philosophical matters. Intercultural ethics is an additional focus.

Dr. Torsten H. Voigt has been Professor of Technology and Diversity at the RWTH Aachen Institute of Sociology since September 2018. His key research areas include the many-faceted interdependencies of technology and diversity, particularly in the areas of medicine, forensics, and neuroscience.

Dr. rer. nat. Ghislain Fourier has been University Professor for Mathematics at Department B, Algebra, at the RWTH Aachen Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences since July 2018.

Agnes Förster has been University Professor of Planning Theory and Urban Development at the RWTH Faculty of Architecture since July 2018. Her key research areas are innovative methods and instruments of urban development as well as urban transformation processes in areas such as living, working, and mobility.

Verena Nitsch has been University Professor of Ergonomics at the RWTH Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics (IAW) since April 2018. Her key research areas include the human-centered design of human-machine interfaces and the impacts of new technologies on employees and work processes.

Dr. rer. nat. Geraldine Zimmer-Bensch has been Professor for Functional Epigenetics in Animal Models at the Faculty for Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences at RWTH Aachen University since April 2018. Her  research focuses in particular on the elucidation of epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation in brain development and function in order to better understand associated diseases and their pathophysiologies.

Johannes Stegmaier has been Junior Professor for Biomedical Image Processing at the RWTH Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. One of his key research areas is the automated analysis of large, time-resolved 3D microscopy image data.

Dr. Felix Kahlhöfer has been Junior Professor of Theoretical Astroparticle Physics at the Institute for Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology since April 2018. His key research areas include the search for new elementary particles and the properties of dark matter.

Dr. Katharina Schmitz has been University Professor at RWTH Aachen University and director of the RWTH Institute for Fluid Power Drives and Systems since March 2018.

Together with her team, she conducts holistic research on fluid power systems, ranging from the use of hydraulic and pneumatic systems in machines for power transfer purposes and the optimization of fluid power components to fundamental questions in tribology, fluid engineering, fluid analysis, and digitalization in the context of Fluid Technology 4.0.

Dr.-phil. Dipl.-Ing. Stefan Böschen has been University Professor of Technology and Society at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and at HumTec at RWTH Aachen since March 2018.

Dr.-Ing. Elisabeth Clausen has been University Professor of Advanced Mining Technologies and head of the epononymous chair at the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University since March 2018. Together with her team, she develops robust, interconnected, and autonomous machines and processes to be used under challenging conditions to extract raw materials. Her research focuses on how to make information on process, environment, and machine surveillance usable using sensor technology and modern machine and process data analysis processes.

Dr.-phil. Dipl.-Ing. Stefan Böschen has been University Professor of Technology and Society at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and at HumTec at RWTH Aachen since March 2018.

Dr. rer. nat. Jérôme Crassous has been Junior Professor for Physical Chemistry and Soft Matter at the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences since February 2018. His research is focused on the examination of phase diagrams, dynamics and self-assembly of colloidal particles.

Dr. rer. nat. Sven Ingebrandt has been Professor of Micro and Nanosystems at the RWTH Aachen Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology since January 2018. In addition, he has been Director of the Department of Materials in Electrical Engineering 1 since October 2018.

Dr. rer. nat. Florian Amann has been University Professor of Engineering Geology and Environmental Management at the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University since October 2017. His key research areas are unstable mountainsides, tunnel construction, and geomechanics.

Dr. oec. Julia Bendul has been University Professor of Management of Industry 4.0 at the Faculty of Business and Economics since August 2017. Her key research areas are the design, modeling and control of production and logistics networks, the management of digital supply chains, as well as business model innovation.

Dr.-Ing. Marzia Traverso has been Professor for Sustainability in Civil Engineering and Head of the Institute of Sustainability in Civil Engineering at RWTH Aachen since June 2017. Her research focuses on environmental protection and social sustainability, methods and tools, sustainability management in companies and sustainability assessment of products.

Since 2017, Dr. Markus Strohmaier has been University Professor for "Methodology and Theory of Computational Social Sciences and Humanities" at RWTH Aachen University. He holds a joint appointment at the HumTec Center in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and at the Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences.

Dr. phil. Florian Hartmann has been Heisenberg-University Professor for the subject of Mediaeval Discourse on Knowledge at the RWTH Aachen Faculty of Arts and Humanities since June 2017. In his research he is concerned with the situational, social establishment of new knowledge – its dissemination, acceptance or dismissal – and with the interdependency between social environment and knowledge of any kind. Furthermore he looks at forms of communication, particularly the letter over the course of the Middle Ages.

Dr. rer. nat. Oliver Schaudt has been University Professor of Mathematical Data Science at the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Natural Sciences at RWTH Aachen University since May 2017.

Dr. rer. nat. Stefan Fina has been University Professor of Analysis and Monitoring of Urban Spaces at the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University since May 2017.

Dr.-Ing. Manja Krüger has been University Professor of Mechanics of Energy Materials at the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University since April 2017. As part of the Jülich Aachen Research Alliance, JARA, she is head of the Materials Mechanics section at the Institute of Microstructure and Properties of Materials, IEK-2, at Forschungszentrum Jülich.

Dr.-Ing. Max Christian Lemme has been University Professor of Electronic Building Components at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at RWTH Aachen. His research focuses on graphene and related materials and their application in the fields of electronics, photonics, and sensors.

Dr. rer. nat. Ronald Gebhardt has been University Professor of Soft Matter Process Engineering in the Aachener Verfahrenstechnik, which is a conglomeration of chemical engineering chairs at RWTH Aachen. His research focuses on the functionalization of soft matter, specifically bio materials and ranges from the theoretical aspects to structural research to applied research.
