Workshop: AI-supported study course planning and student cohort monitoring (DELFI 2023)
This workshop focuses on the possible applications of different AI technologies in study planning and student cohort monitoring. With growing student numbers and an increasing heterogeneity of the student body, universities are facing major challenges. Individual study paths and profiles, as well as novel teaching and learning concepts, require scalable, personalizable assistance and support services. The exploration and integration of AI in higher education institutes can support both students and teachers in their tasks, as AI can be used in study administration as well as in student cohort monitoring.

Objectives and organization of the workshop
The workshop provides the opportunity for project presentations and networking of different actors in the research field, with the aim of stimulating exchange in the German-speaking community. Synergies are to be identified and utilized so that research and development in the field of AI support for study planning and cohort monitoring can be advanced collaboratively. The aim is to discuss concepts and solutions that have been developed, as well as lessons learned and findings, taking into account current results. First developed approaches and prototypical implementations will be critically reflected together. The goal is to integrate the results and findings into the scientific discourse and to make them accessible to the expert community.
The workshop is jointly organized and conducted by René Röpke (RWTH Aachen), Sven Judel (RWTH Aachen), Katharina Batz (Ruhr University Bochum), Dominik Bär (Ruhr University Bochum), Luis Rumert (University of Wuppertal) and Leandro Henao (University of Wuppertal) with the support of Ulrik Schroeder. The organizers have many years of experience in the development and research of educational technologies and are part of a joint project "AIStudyBuddy", funded by the BMBF in the funding line "AI in Higher Education".
